  • William Ford

    Sensei William Christopher Ford is the Chief Instructor at Kaizen Dojo in Torrance, CA.

    Sensei Ford began his lifelong study of the martial arts in 1974 at the age of 7 (at the urging of his mother who is from Japan) in the Okinawan art of Shorin Ryu Karate-Do (Kobayashi Ryu) under the late Sensei Richard Rabago. He was tested for and was promoted to black belt at the age of 13 by Master Tadashi Yamashita, but only after he had failed the test on his first attempt months earlier. Sensei Ford has a deep appreciation and respect for all martial arts styles and is currently studying the Filipino martial art of Arnis de Mano with Mataw Guro Marc Lawrence, and Japanese swordsmanship (Katori Shinto Ryu Kenjutsu and Iaijutsu) with Sensei Bruce Nguyen. He is also about to seriously resume his study of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

    In 2012, Sensei Ford was inducted into the Masters' Hall of Fame and received the Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the martial arts. He dedicated this honor to Sensei Richard Rabago, who had recommended Sensei Ford for this award.

    In 2013, Sensei Ford was appointed as official ambassador to the Masters Hall of Fame and inducted 8 outstanding martial artists into this prestigious organization.

    On Sept. 7th, 2013, Sensei Ford received the Museum Honor Award from the Martial Arts History Museum, in recognition for his lifelong dedication to his study of and teaching of the martial arts.

    Additionally, he is husband to a beautiful 4th generation Okinawan woman via Hawaii and is a father to 3 children.

    He is also a member of the Screen Actor's Guild and has appeared in features such as "Karate Kid 3" and others and currently performs as "Cut-Throat Jack, the Red Pirate" at Pirate's Dinner Adventure in Buena Park, CA. "Arrggghhh!"

    Lastly, Sensei Ford is highly regarded for his warmth, patience, high energy and enthusiasm, sense of humor, and dynamic teaching style.
